Hi, I’m Bell—the cook, recipe tester, and chief dishwasher behind BelRecipes.
Let me be completely honest with you: my love for cooking didn’t start in some picturesque farmhouse kitchen watching my grandmother roll out fresh pasta. It actually started out of pure, frantic necessity. Growing up in a loud, busy household, dinner was always about getting something on the table as fast as humanly possible. There wasn't much time for "flavor profiles" or fancy plating.
When I finally moved out and got my own tiny kitchen, I realized two things: I was incredibly bored of eating the same bland meals, but I still only knew how to cook in a rush.
That’s when I discovered the absolute magic of spices. I became obsessed with how a pinch of this or a dash of that could completely transform a boring, thrown-together meal into something that tasted incredible.
From the Rush to the Restaurant
That obsession eventually led me down a rabbit hole of professional culinary training. I wanted to know why food tasted good. But even as I learned the strict rules of restaurant cooking, my heart always went back to the everyday home cook. I didn’t want to make food that required three days of prep and tweezers to plate. I wanted to take those professional restaurant secrets and use them to make a standard Wednesday night dinner taste amazing.
Why I Started BelRecipes
I know how exhausting it is to stand in front of the fridge at 6:00 PM with no idea what to make. I also know how frustrating it is to follow a recipe online only to have it completely flop.
That’s why I created this blog. When you try a recipe from BelRecipes, I want you to have total confidence that it is going to work. Every single dish you see here has been tested, tweaked, and tasted (usually by my very happy, very full family) to make sure it actually works in a normal home kitchen. If a recipe is on this site, it's because I genuinely love it and make it myself.
